Mats Gjertsen Bye is Vice President of Avinor’s Drone Programme and International Test Arena. He leads a team focused on shaping the future of drones, Advanced Air Mobility, and sustainable aviation. Mats is responsible for developing and implementing Avinor’s strategy for uncrewed aviation, governmental affairs, and new business development, while also overseeing the International Test Arena.
With many years of experience as Head of Air Traffic Control across several Norwegian towers, Mats brings deep operational knowledge to his current role. He has also worked extensively on procurement processes for air traffic services nationally and internationally, alongside involvement in numerous wide-ranging Avinor projects. He holds a degree in Aviation Management from Nord University
