Jon-Ivar Nygård is Norway’s Minister of Transport, responsible for policies related to the transport of people and goods, as well as postal services. Before his appointment as Minister in 2021, Nygård had a long and substantial political career in the Municipality of Fredrikstad, where he held elected office from 1993 to 2021. Nygård has served as a member of the Central Board of the Labour Party since 2014 and is a long-standing member of the Norwegian Union of Municipal and General Employees (Fagforbundet). He holds a Cand.mag. degree from the University of Oslo.
